Mayor Mustabašić lost his voice screaming at inspectors who banned bread delivery

The Mayor of Maglaj Municipality, Mehmed Mustabašić, told the Patria News Agency that more than 4,000 cubic meters of waste are exported from this city daily, and that countless loads are taken to the landfill every day. Many volunteers across BiH are helping the people of Maglaj with cleaning, and yesterday the people of Maglaj were without bread because cantonal sanitary inspectors turned back bakers who brought bread. Yesterday, there was a real bread shortage in Maglaj.

- It is true that cantonal sanitary inspectors interfered with our system for one day and turned back the bakers. I was angry and my voice broke from how much I yelled. People were without bread, but we are re-establishing that system now, and our own bakery is close to opening. The situation is normalizing – Mustabašić told NAP.

He added that Maglaj now looks like a landfill and a construction site, but that citizens are forced to throw away everything that came into contact with water.

- As soon as we remove something, diligent citizens bring out things from the basements that they thought could stay yesterday. Floors have to be raised because there is a lot of mud underneath. We have machinery and equipment from Sarajevo, Breza, as well as firefighters from all parts of BiH. I must praise the Sarajevo Fire Brigade, which is here every day, and they even sleep here – Mustabašić added.
