Lukavac Mayor Edin Delić has canceled the New Year's fireworks. Instead, the Municipality will purchase New Year's gift packages for all children in the Lukavac area.
Lukavac is the second municipality in FBiH to redirect funds from New Year's fireworks to other purposes. Kakanj Mayor Nermin Mandra previously redirected around 8,000 KM from New Year's celebrations to the treatment of a sick boy.
- We decided to significantly reduce expenses for the traditional New Year's fireworks in Lukavac this year. Although there will be a few rockets and some pyrotechnics, we have redirected most of the financial resources to those who look forward to the holidays the most – children – Delić said.
A theater performance will be held in the premises of the House of Culture for all first-graders from the municipality of Lukavac, and gift packages will also be distributed to the young visitors.
On the same day, gift packages will be presented to children from families receiving social assistance and children in "Mali svijet" – an organization that cares for children with autism.
On the last day of December, a New Year's carriage will travel through the city, also entertaining the citizens, writes Patria.
