Mayor of Kalesija Nermin Mujkanović: I thank the police for their swift reaction

(Patria) - The Mayor of Kalesija, Nermin Mujkanović, commented in a statement to the media on this morning's police action in the center of this town, which aimed to prevent robbers on the run after their attempted robbery of a jewelry store, during which they also used firearms.

Mujkanović thanked the police officers for their swift reaction.

"First, I want to thank the police action and the significant attempt to prevent this criminal act, and this is proof that the state and the system exist in Kalesija," Mujkanović said.

He then explained that this event falls under the jurisdiction of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton and added that the Municipality of Kalesija is also undertaking certain activities.

"What is up to us and the municipality, we have already scheduled a Civil Protection Headquarters meeting for today at 12:00 PM to prepare for tomorrow's Municipal Council Collegium, scheduled for 8:00 AM, to determine the conclusions on how the municipality will further respond," Mujkanović stated.

We remind you that a real drama unfolded early this morning in Kalesija when armed robbers attempted to rob a jewelry store in the city center, after which a confrontation with the police ensued.

The robbers managed to escape, at least for now, and one of them was wounded in the confrontation with the police and subsequently died.

The robbers also set fire to the car they used during the robbery, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska is also involved in the search for the remaining robbers.

The police received a report of the robbery around 7:35 AM, after which a real movie-like chase ensued for the robbers, writes N1.
