Kakanj Mayor Visited Attacked Priest: I Expect the Ministry of Internal Affairs to Find and Sanction the Attacker as Soon as Possible

(Patria) - Regarding the attack by robbers on Father Žarko Vujica, who was also robbed, the Mayor of Kakanj, Mirnes Bajtarević, issued a statement.

"I am deeply saddened by the attack on Father Žarko Vujica, which occurred last night in Kakanj. This morning, as soon as I learned of it, I visited the priest to express my support and sympathy.

With a heavy heart, I express my disappointment and disbelief that such evil people exist who are willing to commit such a heinous and terrible act of attack. I expect the competent cantonal Ministry of Internal Affairs to find the perpetrator as soon as possible, and the judicial authorities to severely punish the perpetrator.

I express the readiness of the Municipality of Kakanj to cover the material damage caused by the attack and robbery, and I especially emphasize that the greatest pain is the fact that Father Žarko Vujica was brutally attacked, and in that regard, I extend my condolences to the priest, the faithful, and all people who received the news with sadness.

I personally, and all citizens of Kakanj, of all nationalities and faiths, are today in thoughts and prayers with our fellow citizen, Father Žarko Vujica," Bajtarević stated.

The Archdiocese of Vrhbosna also issued a statement expressing regret over this unfortunate event in which Father Vujica experienced great distress, and his life was also in danger, and hopes that the authorities will do everything to identify and bring the attacker to justice.
