Mayor Bećirević Fulfilled by Far the Most Promises

The Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, was rated as the most developed local community in Bosnia and Herzegovina a few months ago, following research by the Federal Development Programming Institute.

Another research study that showed how responsibly and successfully work was done in the Municipality of Centar is the one conducted by the association "Why not". Namely, within the project implemented by this association, called Istinomjer (Truthmeter), the extent to which local politicians fulfilled their promises in the past four years was checked, reports the BH news agency Patria.

Istinomjer took a sample of 12 municipalities and cities and investigated the extent to which mayors fulfilled the promises they made in the 2012 campaign. It was found that out of a total of 659 pre-election promises, 252 were fulfilled, or 44 percent.

The municipalities included in the sample examined by Istinomjer are Stari Grad Sarajevo, Municipality Centar Sarajevo, Novi Grad, Novo Sarajevo, Istočno Novo Sarajevo, Široki Brijeg, Bijeljina, Trebinje, Bihać, Prijedor, Banja Luka, and Tuzla.

In the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, 71 percent of pre-election promises were fulfilled, or 190 out of 267, which places this Municipality in the undisputed first place in terms of the number of fulfilled promises. Mayor Dževad Bećirević mostly fulfilled promises related to infrastructure projects in local communities, and Istinomjer also states that during the research, it found that a large number of his realized promises coincided with the proposals of local community citizens made at assemblies during public discussions on the budget during his term.
