Visoko Mayor Amra Babić on the abuse of the Mothers of Srebrenica: I expected low blows and dirty games

After a letter sent to the media by the Association "Movement of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclave" demanding an apology from the Mayor of Visoko, Amra Babić, for "playing music on the eve of July 11," Mayor Babić has also reacted.

The Patria Agency conveys Mayor Babić's reaction from her official Facebook profile:

- Although I expected low blows and dirty games from local sheriffs and power brokers who are bothered by my work and dedication as mayor, as well as my independent candidacy for the 2016 local elections, today (yesterday, editor's note) I was once again, for the umpteenth time, left speechless by the methods and means they use to reach positions.

While I was visiting the settlement of Čekreččije with my associates, where families expelled from Eastern Bosnia, mostly from Srebrenica, live today, and discussing their life problems and how to solve them, I received many calls and messages informing me that a statement by the Mothers of Srebrenica had been published on portals demanding an apology because on the day of mourning and burial of Srebrenica victims in Visoko, songs and music were playing. I immediately read the text and called mother Munira Subašić, who, like me, was surprised and distanced herself from the statement, saying she knew nothing about it except that everything written was a lie.

I also called mother Hatidža Mehmedović, who told me she wrote the statement because twenty people told her it was true. I asked her: "Dear Hatidža, did you verify this, why didn't you call to ask, why didn't you check the municipality's website to see what was happening in Visoko those days? Why did you agree to be a bullet in the barrel with which certain individuals from the SDA are shooting at Amra?"

She was confused. She had no answer. I told her: "Do you know that I am from a martyr's family, that I was 24 years old when I took the burden of life on my shoulders, do you know that I am the founder of the organization of martyr families, do you know that during my mandate the Square of Srebrenica Victims was built, the only permanent testament and memorial to the victims of genocide built outside Srebrenica? Do you know that I attended every funeral and every farewell - do those who remember Srebrenica only before elections have such power over you?"

The truth, dear Hatidža, is that from July 8 to 13, the Visočko ljeto event was held in Visoko. On the day of the funeral and the day of mourning, July 11, we had a program at the Square of Srebrenica Victims - recitation of the Qur'an, Ilahije, and recitals with the theme of paying tribute to the victims. The night before, on the big stage, a concert of spiritual music was held by the performer Shaderwan code - Arabesques with musical accompaniment from part of the group Zabranjeno pušenje. 

Dear Hatidža, if you had a reason for this address, why did you wait until August 19? Is this part of a political campaign against me?

May the victims have mercy and respect, apologies to the families if we made a mistake and offended anyone. And to the clients and protagonists - to their honor!
