(Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta and Executive Director for Sales at Solaris Kepa Mandikute signed a contract today for the purchase of 10 new trolleybuses. The model of trolleybus that will run on the streets of Sarajevo is Trollino 18.
"This is another great day for public transport. We previously purchased 25 new trolleybuses, and now we are continuing with the procurement of an additional 10. We have waited for decades for the purchase of new vehicles, and the expansion of the new fleet, especially when we see the satisfaction of citizens, gives us additional motivation to work. The new Solaris trolleybuses will, I am sure, justify the trust of the citizens. By purchasing new trolleybuses and expanding the trolleybus network to Vogošća, we continue to develop every segment of public transport and traffic in our canton," said Minister Šteta.
The trolleybuses will be 18 meters long and 2.55 meters wide.
The total capacity of the new trolleybuses will be 120, with a minimum of 36 seats. Solaris trolleybuses will be able to run without an overhead contact line and will be equipped with modern equipment, video surveillance, passenger information system, LCD monitors, and voice announcements, as well as USB ports for charging mobile phones. They are fully adapted for people with disabilities.
The Trollino 18 trolleybuses, like all current trolleybuses, will be connected to our control center and will have a GPS system, so that the vehicles can be tracked in real time.
The selected contractor, in accordance with public procurement procedures, is the company Solaris from Poland, a leading company in the production of buses and trolleybuses, which supplies trolleybuses to 19 European countries. Solaris trolleybuses operate in many developed European cities, so Solaris vehicles can be seen on the streets of Milan, Prague, Bucharest, Budapest, and other cities.
On the other hand, along with trolleybuses, it is also a leader in bus production, and Solaris has delivered tens of thousands of vehicles to cities across Europe, actively supporting the transition to more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. The delivery of Solaris trolleybuses is expected to begin next summer.
The public procurement was carried out in accordance with the procedures and rules of the EIB, and the value of the contract is eight million euros.
