25,000 people protest against austerity measures on the streets of Athens

In Athens on Saturday, 25,000 people took to the streets to protest against austerity measures at the call of PAME, the Workers' Front, close to the Communist Party, agencies report, as carried by the Bosnian news agency Patria. 

A thousand trade union organizations representing the public and private sectors from all over Greece gathered on Saturday to condemn that "besides 1.5 million officially unemployed, there are more than 500,000 employees who have not been paid for months."

The main trade unions from the private and public sectors, GSEE and ADEDY, have called for a general strike in Greece on November 27 to condemn the continuation of austerity measures in the draft state budget for 2015.

Greece has committed to its creditors to implement the financial recovery plan until the end of December.

The draft budget for 2015, which will be presented in parliament by the end of November, provides for fiscal relief but generally continues the policy of austerity and reduction of public spending.
