89 members of BiH Armed Forces training in Turkey, Akar says they are always ready to help

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Turkish Minister of Defence Hulusi Akar is on an official visit to BiH with a delegation. After a meeting at the BiH Ministry of Defence, Minister Sifet Podžić and Minister Akar addressed the media.

Podžić emphasized that cooperation between the two ministries is ongoing, and signed agreements are being updated and expanded.

"Turkey, as a NATO member and a great friend of BiH, is helping the BiH MoD, primarily in the training of members of the BiH Armed Forces at academies in Turkey. We have 89 members from BiH undergoing training, which is the largest contingent abroad. The second segment is the modernization of the BiH Armed Forces; we have a signed agreement worth 200 million lira for the procurement of assets from Turkey's specialized production. I expect a proposal from the generals in the coming days regarding which assets we will start acquiring for the BiH Armed Forces," Podžić said.

Minister Akar stated during his address that he would also meet with members of the BiH Presidency during his visit and would visit Turkish citizens undergoing training at universities.

He believes it is not good for anyone in BiH to talk about the separation of its parts.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and call on all parties to react calmly, patiently, and through dialogue. We propose that the existing problems be resolved peacefully, as this is the best way for all peoples in BiH. We are always ready to analyze any of your requests and help within our capabilities," Akar said.
