On the referendum, 98 percent of Ozren citizens voted against geological exploration of ores in Ozren, RS MoI banned protest in front of the RS NA

(Patria) - Citizens from Ozren are organizing a gathering in front of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska tomorrow at 10:00 AM, to express their dissatisfaction and make it clear that they are against any mining projects.

The gathering was announced after the company Lykos Balkan Metals informed the Municipality of Petrovo that detailed geological exploration in the "Petrovo" exploration area will begin on May 22, despite the opposition of the local population, the Local Community of Sočkovac, and the Municipal Assembly of Petrovo.

Due to strong resistance from the local community, the Municipality of Petrovo also held a referendum on Sunday, May 17, on geological exploration in the local community of Sočkovac, where 98 percent of participants voted against it.

Otherwise, the company Lykos Balkan Metals plans to explore for lead, zinc, copper, silver, and gold ores in this area.

During the day, the Ecological Association "Ozrenski studenac", which is organizing the protest, received a ban from the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs, i.e., the Banja Luka Police Administration.
