At the proposal of Minister Isak, 'sliding' ranks introduced in the Federal Police Administration

(Patria) - The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Federal Minister of Interior, Ramo Isak, adopted the Decree on the awarding and revocation of ranks for police officers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Isak thus fulfilled his earlier promise that this Decree would enable police officers of the Federal Police Administration to advance in positions and areas for which they are specialized.

In practice, this means that we will not lose professional police officers who, until now, had to change positions and move to other departments due to advancement.

The Decree will have a positive impact on improving the work of police officers in the areas of drugs, terrorism, organized and inter-cantonal crime, i.e., where special experience and knowledge of police officers are required.

With this, all legal prerequisites have been created for Minister Isak to adopt a new Curriculum for basic police training at the Police Academy of the Federal MUP and to announce a public competition for the recruitment of 100 police officers in the rank of "policeman" and 20 in the rank of "junior inspector."

The new Curriculum of the Police Academy will focus on improving training in the areas of violence against women, juvenile delinquency, special investigative actions, maintaining public order and peace, preventing riots at sporting events, traffic safety, handling weapons, and raising professional standards in the work of police officers.

The Decree enables police officers at the Police Academy of the FMUP to be in charge of implementing practical police training, where currently these tasks are performed exclusively by civil servants and employees.

In the previous period, the Federal MUP drafted a new Rulebook on the internal organization of the FMUP and FUP, which defines positions for police officers with sliding ranks. The new Rulebook will also define positions for police officers at the Police Academy.

This Rulebook will be submitted to the Government of the Federation of BiH for approval in the coming period.
