Shelter for hikers being built on Prenj, all interested can help

(Patria) - I invite hikers, nature lovers, and all other good people to get involved in the construction of a mountain shelter (bivouac) on Prenj.

In this phase, we are collecting money to buy materials for the construction, announced hiker and tourist guide Sedin Salić.

"During last winter and this summer, we analyzed the chosen location and prepared the project for the construction of the shelter. We consulted with several experienced hikers, mountain guides, and alpinists. These are people who know the beauties of Prenj, as well as the dangers that can threaten visitors' lives, and they all confirmed that an always-open shelter would be extremely useful at that location," the announcement states.

The location of the shelter is the crossroads below Soplje (central part of Prenj).

It is a busy crossroads, and it would take more than 4 hours of walking to reach the nearest usable shelter. In difficult mountain conditions, this time can be crucial.

"Our intention is to build a small shelter that will be accessible to everyone in trouble, and that will not be locked. Everyone to whom the idea has been presented has offered help in construction, but we also need financial assistance to buy materials. We received a free project, we were promised free delivery of materials and people to Tisovica, and very importantly, free skilled labor for assembling the bivouac. So, now we just need to collect money for the materials," Salić states.
