Remains of one person exhumed in Srebrenica area

At the Tihnića brdo site, in the municipality of Srebrenica, an exhumation process is underway, during which the complete remains of one person were found.

The exhumation is taking place at the local cemetery, where unknown human remains, presumed to be from the past war, were found at a shallow depth during work to prepare a grave site.

The remains will be transferred to the Tuzla Memorial Center for further forensic examination, DNA analysis, and identification of the person.

Representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons, a forensic physician, and police officers from the Srebrenica Police Station are participating in the exhumation, and the activities on the ground are coordinated by an investigator from the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the order of the acting prosecutor.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner institutions, participates in the processes of exhumation and searching for missing persons throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
