Settlements in Konjic area flooded again, riverbeds not adequately rehabilitated

(Patria) - Several locations in the municipality of Konjic, which were flooded during the October floods, have experienced a similar scenario in recent days.

The Assistant Mayor for Civil Protection and Firefighting of the Konjic Municipality, Husein Hodžić, said these are repeated floods, albeit on a smaller scale.

He stated that three river basins were flooded: the Kraljuštica and Seočnica rivers to a lesser extent, and the Neretvica River, which flows from the village of Parovići to Buturović Polje.

- Part of the riverbed was rehabilitated after the October floods, while the riverbed level rose due to sand deposits caused by heavy rain and snowmelt - Hodžić points out, adding that they have engaged machinery to deepen the riverbed.

This will be a serious problem in the coming period until the watercourse regulation is carried out in accordance with construction standards, Hodžić added.
