Additional space leased for POSKOK for a period of five years, monthly invoice to exceed 60,000 BAM

(Patria) - The FBiH Government at an emergency session on April 30, when the Special Departments for Combating Corruption, Organized and Inter-Cantonal Crime of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of FBiH (POSKOK) and the Supreme Court of FBiH began their work, made a decision to lease additional space for the needs of the Special Department of the Supreme Court of FBiH from May 1, 2025, for a period of five years. Since October 2024, space has been leased for the Special Department of the Federal Prosecutor's Office in the former building of Privredna banka, which is now owned by the company Euro stan from East Sarajevo.

The Service for Joint Affairs of Bodies and Institutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina concluded a lease agreement with the company "Euro stan" d.o.o. East Novo Sarajevo for business premises in Sarajevo, Alipašina Street number 6, on the first floor with an area of 640.45 m2 at a price of 31.50 BAM/m2 + VAT starting from May 1, 2025, and on the ground floor with an area of 230.80 m2 at a price of 42.00 BAM/m2 + VAT starting from July 1, 2025, for housing the Special Department of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Special Department of the Federal Prosecutor's Office, for a period of 5 years.

For the lease of this space, 34,840 BAM will be allocated from the FBiH Budget, and the FBiH Government has been paying rent for premises with an area of 697.05 square meters since October 2024, allocating 26,000 BAM monthly including VAT.

With this new decision, for the premises of both POSKOK departments from May, i.e., from July this year, the monthly invoice will be 60,840 BAM including VAT.

Also, the Service for Joint Affairs of Bodies and Institutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Ministry of Finance were tasked, each within their competence, to secure the funds necessary for the realization of the lease as well as funds for paying for energy and utility services, under the positions (economic codes) of the Service for Joint Affairs of Bodies and Institutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ceremonial opening of POSKOK was held on May 6, and the takeover of around 400 cases from ten cantonal prosecutor's offices is underway, which will be further handled by prosecutors of this department.

Although there is a plan to build the Palace of Justice where all judicial institutions of FBiH would be housed, there is no construction for now. Former federal prime minister Fadil Novalić signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the FBiH Government and the HJPC of BiH in January 2023. This document relates to the establishment and construction of the "Palace of Justice of the Federation of BiH", a new and purpose-built facility that should house the Federal Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Court of FBiH with Special Departments, as well as the Judicial Police of FBiH.

However, the FBiH Government led by Nermin Nikšić opted for leasing premises owned by a private company from East Sarajevo.
