78 players from several countries registered for the International Chess Tournament 'Travnik Open 2015'

Travnik will host the International Chess Tournament „Travnik Open 2015“ from July 23 to 26, organized by the Chess Club „Travnik“, reports the news agency Patria.

So far, 78 players from Norway, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have registered for the tournament in Travnik. The tournament is on the official calendar of the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

The president of the Travnik club, Kemal Baltić, said that based on the number of registered players, the prize fund, and overall organizational segments, „Travnik Open 2015“ is certainly one of the strongest chess tournaments in Bosnia and Herzegovina this year.

- We have provided optimal conditions for playing the games and hope that Travnik will be a good host - Baltić emphasized.

The tournament will be played in the hall of the Cultural Center, and the prize fund amounts to 3,750 BAM. Male and female chess players with a rating not exceeding 2,400 ELO points can participate. Seven rounds will be played according to the Swiss system, with a time control of 90 minutes per player for the entire game, plus an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the first move.

Tournament director Jasmin Fajkuć said he is pleased that participants from six countries, including Norway, have registered for the tournament.

- The significance of the tournament has been recognized by numerous sponsors, as well as municipal and cantonal institutions, and its holding is the first step in returning Travnik to the chess map of the region - Fejkuć said.

The tournament will be officiated by international arbiters Mirza Miralem and Sejfudin Miskić. The opening of the tournament is scheduled for July 23 at 3:00 PM, and the first round begins at 4:00 PM. The general sponsor is the company Grand 99, reports NAP.
