On the sidelines of SEDM, numerous diplomatic meetings of Minister Helez: Strengthening stability and partnership relations in the wider region

(Patria) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez, as host of the Ministerial Meeting within the
Southeast European Defence Ministerial Process (SEDM) initiative, which was held in Sarajevo on November 26 and 27,
2025, under the Greek presidency, also had a lively diplomatic activity with several colleagues from the wider region.

On the sidelines of the SEDM Ministerial Meeting, Minister Helez held bilateral talks with the heads of the Ministries of Defense of Italy, Greece, Romania, and Turkey, as well as with the Director of the Regional Center for Security Cooperation RACVIAC. In the meetings, Helez further affirmed the SEDM initiative as a valuable framework for strengthening trust, understanding, and coordination among the countries of Southeast Europe, as well as in the broader Euro-Atlantic area.

He specifically considered the possibilities of strengthening the bilateral military-diplomatic relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina with
partner and friendly countries from the Southeast European region, as well as cooperation in the field of defense industries.

Minister Helez first met on Wednesday evening with the State Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Italy, Perego Di Cremnago, and then held a bilateral meeting on Thursday morning with the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), Athanasios Davakis.

Following the conclusion of the joint SEDM Initiative meeting, Helez spoke with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Romania, Liviu-Ionut Moșteanu, and with the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, Heybet Musa.

Minister Zukan Helez concluded his bilateral activities on the sidelines of the SEDM meeting with a conversation with RACVIAC Director Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, during which various aspects of regional cooperation in defense and confidence-building in the region were discussed.
