KCUS inventories Dr. Gavrankapetanović's private belongings, Pećanin warns of violence

After inventorying all items in the office of the former head of the Orthopedic Clinic, Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović, two days ago, in accordance with the last inventory list from March 2017, the Commission for Handover of Duties yesterday began inventorying Professor Gavrankapetanović's private belongings, including his years-long private and professional correspondence with colleagues from around the world, which represents an illegal act of violence, confirmed Senad Pećanin, legal representative of Professor Gavrankapetanović, for the Patria agency.

Pećanin stated that he warned the Commission members that the inventory of items that are the private property of Professor Gavrankapetanović is an illegal act, but that despite the warning, the Commission continued its work today.

- They explain that they received an order to inventory all items in the office, and despite the fact that it was previously established that no item belonging to the Clinical Center is missing from Professor Gavrankapetanović's office, according to the last inventory list - Pećanin told the Patria agency.

- In this way, the management of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo continues with outrageous violence that seriously jeopardizes the fundamental functions of the Orthopedic Clinic and the entire Clinical Center - Pećanin added.

A few days ago, the General Director of KCUS, Dr. Sebija Izetbegović, abruptly dismissed the leading European orthopedist, Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović, from the position of head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology at KCUS.
The management of the largest healthcare institution in the country did not provide an explanation for this dismissal, which caused sharp reactions from orthopedists and organizations from all over Europe.

Many called the dismissal a political decision, which is devastating for the medical profession and a step back for Bosnia and Herzegovina by a century.

Some doctors and other medical staff who in any way supported Dr. Gavrankapetanović and opposed his dismissal have been transferred to other departments or have been blackmailed in other ways.

Prominent Croatian political scientist, philosopher, political analyst, and long-time human rights activist Žarko Puhovski previously reminded in a conversation with Patria that he was persecuted by the then Yugoslav regime 30 years ago for a petition supporting the former President of RBiH, Alija Izetbegović, but that today's authorities are persecuting Dr. Gavrankapetanović and his colleagues in the same way.
