Days of the IV Motorized Brigade Held in Ilidža, Largest Square in Sarajevo Canton Named

(Patria) - The central part of the "Days of the IV Motorized Brigade" event, marking the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Fourth Motorized Brigade, was held last night at the Central Square in Ilidža.

The largest square in Sarajevo Canton, which was completely renovated last year, will in the future be named Square of the Fourth Motorized Brigade, which during the aggression on BiH was the true guardian of the gate of the capital of our homeland.



The plaque with the new name of the square was ceremonially unveiled by the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, and the President of the Fourth Brigade Association, Muhamed Nogo, followed by a large fireworks display.

Among the numerous guests and dignitaries was the Minister for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović.

- We were members of the generation that defended Bosnia and Herzegovina, just like the knights from Ilidža, and now younger generations, like Mayor Nermin Muzur, are on the scene, who will lead us to a better tomorrow - said Minister Osmanović, with a message that Ilidža and its people have never betrayed.

For 32 years in a row, the Days of the IV Motorized Brigade have been celebrated in Ilidža, which operated as part of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the most honorable organization in the thousand-year history of our homeland.



- With pride, all members of the brigade, and especially in honor of those who are no longer with us, should feel and be true knights in freedom and peace, knights of a time that was a fateful turning point for the survival of the people in these areas and a guarantee of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Muhamed Nogo, president of the Fourth Brigade Association.

The Square of the Fourth Motorized Brigade will soon be adorned with a new memorial.

- Until now, the commemoration of the anniversary of the IV Motorized Brigade was held in Hrasnica, but this time it is for a reason in the center of Ilidža, at the largest square in Sarajevo Canton.

We have a special reason for this, and many have criticized us for it. However, what we have done and what we will do by building a new memorial to the Fourth Brigade, here on the square, will be history and will outlive all of us - said Mayor Muzur.



The three-day event commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the IV Motorized Brigade began on Friday with a Ceremonial Session of the Ilidža Municipal Council.

The ceremonial session of the Ilidža Municipal Council, presided over by Tarik Stambolić, was preceded by laying flowers, reciting Fatiha, and paying respects to martyrs and fallen soldiers at the Central Memorial to Martyrs, Fallen Soldiers, and Civilian Victims of Aggression, as well as at the Memorial to the Soldiers of the IV Motorized Brigade.

A khatma prayer was recited for all martyrs and deceased members of the IV Motorized Brigade in the New Mosque in Hrasnica, and today a memorial service and requiem mass were held for fallen and deceased soldiers of Orthodox and Catholic faith.

The event commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the IV Motorized Brigade continued today with a visit to Golo Brdo, where flowers were laid and Fatiha was recited at the place where Emir Bogunić Čarli, sisters Mevlida and Samira Elčić, and Džemal Bulbul fell, after which family members, comrades, and delegations visited the grave of the Ilidža hero in Hrasnica, who fell on this day in 1993.
