Long queues of vehicles at border crossings on the way out of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Roads in Bosnia are wet or damp, while in Herzegovina it is mostly dry. Fog and low clouds reduce visibility on some sections in valleys and along river courses in central and eastern Bosnia. We also warn of the possibility of landslides and rocks on the road. We appeal to drivers to adjust their driving to the current road conditions.

Construction of a noise barrier is underway on the A-1 Podlugovi-Sarajevo north motorway section, due to which traffic has been redirected to the passing lane.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, while for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes traffic remains suspended.

Works are underway on the Kladanj-Stupari main road, due to which traffic is conducted in one lane, with alternating vehicle passage, every day (except Sunday) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There are long queues of passenger vehicles at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Kostajnica, Kozarska Dubica and Orašje, while drivers can expect congestion in both directions at the border crossings: Brod, Gradina and Gradiška. At other border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic occasionally intensifies, but for now it flows with delays of up to 30 minutes.

Due to passenger registration under the new system for exiting and entering European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays are possible at border crossings.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. As of December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. At the Šepak border crossing, traffic is banned for all freight vehicles.
