On the anniversary of the tragedy: Protests 'Truth and Justice for Dženan Memić' in Velika aleja on February 8

In Velika aleja on Wednesday, February 8, the fourth protests organized by the family of the deceased young man Dženan Memić for the truth about his death will be held. The Memić family has claimed from the beginning that Dženan was killed, and the only witness that night was his girlfriend Alisa Mutap, reports the Patria agency.

Dženan died on February 15, 2016. Although the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office had opened an investigation against an unknown perpetrator for the criminal offense of murder, in August it was announced that the classification had been changed.

At the end of May last year, Ljubo Seferović, Vasvija Sejdić and Bekrija Seferović were arrested. The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović for the serious criminal offense against the safety of public traffic and for the criminal offense of failing to provide assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident and the criminal offense of obstructing evidence, in the case of the death of Dženan Memić.

Given that the Memić family suspected this sequence of events, they demanded that the truth be established.

The Assembly of Sarajevo Canton established an independent 'ad hoc' commission to oversee the work of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior in this case, and the report revealed a series of omissions in the work of certain officials of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior who led the investigation in the Dženan Memić case in a different direction.

During the trial itself, witnesses who have testified so far have presented conflicting claims.

The protest 'Truth and Justice for Dženan Memić' will begin at 2:00 PM at Velika aleja, the place where the young man died that fateful night.

A joint gathering of family, friends and fellow citizens will be at 1:00 PM in front of the Ilidža Municipality building.
