Thousands of fellow citizens at Mersad Kurtalić's funeral

Several thousand residents of Zavidovići attended the funeral of 16-year-old Mersad Kuralić today, the youngest victim of the floods that affected and devastated a large number of municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).

Kurtalić sustained life-threatening burns in his city during the extreme weather event. He passed away two days ago in one of the best European clinics for such injuries, in Genoa, Italy.

Although only 16 years old, Kurtalić was a promising athlete, a black belt holder in karate. A large number of his friends and fellow citizens attended his funeral today, and people of all religions are expressing sorrow for his premature departure on internet forums.

The funeral was also attended by the Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Mirsad Kebo, who had arranged Kurtalić's transport to Genoa in an attempt to save his life. The Mayor of Zavidovići, Suad Omeršević, also attended the funeral.

Residents of Zavidovići say that today's funeral is one of the largest this city remembers, writes Patria.
