Clean water leaking for three days in Dobrinja, ViK has not yet responded

A water pipe burst three days ago in the Sarajevo settlement of Dobrinja, on Trg djeca Dobrinja street between numbers 26 and 28, but no one has repaired the damage yet, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

Residents of this street are outraged at KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacija, because clean water has been leaking for days, and night-time restrictions are still in effect.

There are dozens of such examples in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it is clear that the management of VIK does not understand the seriousness of such water losses, especially in this dry period when every drop of water is significant.

Edin Forto, a representative of Naša stranka in the KS Assembly, has previously stated that ViK has significant losses.

- Out of 100 liters they pump into the system with old pumps, they lose 75 liters through leaks, they issue an invoice for 25 liters, and they collect 20 in the end. Water leakage in the system is a normal occurrence. Vienna has losses and it took 20 years to reduce them from 15% to 10%. But our 75% is probably a European record. And what does the company's management tell us? They have nicely calculated how much money they would need to cover all salaries and basic costs and concluded that they simply need to increase the price of those 20 liters they collect. Not a word about managing leaks in the network, except for the claim that there is no money to replace old installations. Perhaps they should consult with their economic and legal affairs service. That service has over 260 people and probably has some ideas. With so many people, they could establish an institute for eliminating network leaks and work on projects for the whole of Europe - said Forto.
