One of the best English football clubs, Arsenal, played a friendly match against the most decorated BH club, Željo, at Grbavica on this day in 1976, recalls the news agency Patria.

The great Arsenal visited Sarajevo on August 15, 1976, to mark the 55th birthday of the football club "Željezničar". The match ended with a score of 1-1.

The goal for Željezničar was scored by Džemal Šerbo. Arsenal did not deliver the performance the Sarajevo public expected. Long passes, high jumps, accurate shots, and sharp strikes towards the goal of the "blues" were missing, reporters noted.

- We played four matches in seven days, and the players passed the physical fitness test. Besides the goal scored, we created five or six excellent chances, but we failed to capitalize on them. However, it is important that we create goal-scoring opportunities. Considering that this is the period before the start of the championship, I believe the spectators were satisfied with the game - said Ribar immediately after the match.

In its rich history, Željezničar has played against many famous clubs. It should be emphasized that Milan's Inter graced the 50th birthday of the football club "Željezničar" with a visit to Košev. Earlier, on September 19, 1969, FK "Željezničar" played a friendly match against Brazil's Santos, led by one of the greatest footballers in the world of all time – Pelé. The Santos team was then a three-time world champion, recalls NAP.
