On this day Vozuća was liberated, a turning point in the aggression up to that point

On this day, September 11, 1995, joint units of the II and III Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina liberated the very strong Chetnik stronghold of Vozuća.

With the liberation of Vozuća on September 11, 1995, the combined forces of the II and III Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina not only liberated a large area of land and linked these two corps, but it also marked a major turning point in the course of the aggression and the struggle up to that point. The minefields have been largely cleared, but the utmost caution still applies in the surrounding villages, forests and meadows.

As a reminder, the aggression by Chetnik forces against Vozuća began on June 25, 1992, when Serbian paramilitary units expelled the Bosniak population of Vozuća to the nearby towns of Zavidovići and Banovići. On that occasion, they killed twenty-one civilians, mostly frail and exhausted elderly people and children. 

The Serbian paramilitary forces were aware of the importance of Vozuća and tried to preserve it using all military means. They also laid mines around Vozuća, making it the place with the most mines laid during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Radovan Karadžić once stated that in Vozuća they were not defending Belgrade and Serbia, but Moscow and the honor of Russia.
