123 undeclared mobile phones seized at Sarajevo Airport

(Patria) - Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority prevented an attempt to smuggle 123 iPhone mobile phones at Sarajevo Airport.

During the inspection of passengers arriving at Sarajevo International Airport by plane from Istanbul, a large quantity of mobile phones was detected using the passenger baggage scanning method. A detailed physical inspection of the baggage of a married couple revealed 123 "iPhone" mobile phones that had not been declared to the customs authorities upon entering the customs territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The phones that were attempted to be smuggled were temporarily seized, and their value is estimated at 200,000 BAM.

Due to suspicion that the described action constitutes the criminal offense of "Smuggling" under Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed about all the above.
