Sarajevo Airport Receives 165 Tons of Aid

Following the catastrophic floods that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina, aid for the flooded areas is arriving from countries around the world. Sarajevo International Airport has provided maximum logistical support in order to expedite the handover of shipments to beneficiaries, the company announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

In the period from May 20 to May 28, Sarajevo International Airport processed five humanitarian aid shipments for BiH (166,313 kg of cargo), providing completely free acceptance and dispatch services for seven humanitarian aircraft, namely:

- The first shipment of aid from the Republic of Azerbaijan, with a total weight of 25,145.00 kg (one aircraft), the second shipment, realized on May 24 - aid from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, with a total weight of 27,800.00 kg (one aircraft), the third shipment, realized on May 26 - aid from the State of Qatar, with a total weight of 42,184.00 kg (three aircraft), the fourth shipment realized on May 28 - aid from the UN World Food Programme, with a total weight of 29,766.00 kg, the fifth shipment, realized on May 28 - aid from the State of Turkmenistan, with a total weight of 41,418.00 kg (one aircraft) - it was clarified from the Airport.

The most significant contribution to the realization of the handover of humanitarian aid was made by the competent sectors of Sarajevo International Airport; the Air Traffic and Services Sector, the Cargo Services Sector, and the Security and Protection Sector. Also, great operational support was provided by the employees of the Sarajevo Airport Customs Office, the Sarajevo Airport Border Police Unit, as well as competent inspection services and other entities.
