(Patria) - On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the massacre at Tuzla's Kapija, the documentary
film "Kapija - Oath to Tuzla Youth" will have its premiere at this year's 31st Sarajevo Film Festival.
The film will be screened as part of the "BH Film" program, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025,
at 6:00 PM, Hall 3, Cineplexx Sarajevo cinema.
This documentary, by author Azra Kalesić and director Damir Pirić, was produced by
Radio Television 7 Tuzla.
"Kapija – Oath to Tuzla Youth" is a documentary film that takes us back 30 years
in the past and reminds us of the horrific event on May 25, 1995, when 71 young people were killed
by a single shell fired at Tuzla's Kapija, in the center of Tuzla, and around 200 were wounded.
The film presents the poignant stories of the family members of those killed and wounded at Kapija,
representatives of the city of Tuzla, as well as citizens, about that fateful night. The night when the city fell silent with grief, yet did everything it could to save every child injured at Kapija.
This is the story of families whose lives were forever changed by the suffering of their children,
as well as the citizens of Tuzla and BiH, who have not suppressed this pain from their hearts for 30 years.
The film is another harrowing testimony to the killing of innocent civilians in the center of Tuzla,
a warning that such a thing must never happen again anywhere, and a reminder that
no one has yet been held accountable for this crime.
