UK Foreign Office: The best response to Dodik is strengthening and stabilising the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Following reactions from British parliamentarians, the UK Foreign Office has also spoken out, confirming support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its constitutional order.

"The UK Government shares concerns about the irresponsible and unconstitutional activities of Milorad Dodik and the leadership of Republika Srpska, which represent a direct attack on the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional framework of BiH. As a long-standing partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, together with American and European allies, emphasises the importance of respecting the rule of law, its commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH, and support for the Dayton Peace Agreement and the role of the High Representative," the statement said.

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian community in the UK sent a series of letters to British parliamentarians and the UK Government, expressing serious concern over the secessionist activities of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik. In response, several letters of support arrived from British parliamentarians, and now an official response from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

“Dodik remains under UK sanctions for his previous attempts to undermine institutions. The best response to Dodik's rhetoric and actions is to deliver concrete results that support citizens, while strengthening the integrity and stability of the state. This is key as BiH progresses on its Euro-Atlantic path. The UK, US and EU are united in their support for a safer, more stable and prosperous BiH and will continue to work actively together to achieve that goal.” – stated in the response from the UK Foreign Office.
