MVP: BiH citizens should immediately leave regions affected by hostilities

(Patria) - Due to the escalation of conflicts between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, travel to the Nagorno-Karabakh region (Republic of Azerbaijan) is not recommended until further notice, Nebojša Regoje, Head of the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, confirmed to N1.

"The recommendation for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who are currently in regions affected by hostilities is to leave them immediately," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH told N1.

They noted that the General Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Istanbul is responsible for the consular protection of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Also, for all additional clarifications and instructions, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can contact the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Ankara.

We also contacted the BiH Embassy in Ankara, which told us that, according to their knowledge, there are no BiH citizens in Azerbaijan.

"All BiH citizens who were in Azerbaijan and who contacted the BiH Embassy in Ankara have been in BiH for some time due to the situation with the coronavirus," said Marin Marić, second secretary of the BiH Embassy in Ankara, which covers the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Georgia non-residentially, for N1.

He believes that a solution will not be reached for a very long time, because Nagorno-Karabakh is a mountainous region in the middle of Azerbaijan. However, as he pointed out, a solution will not be reached by war, but it will be difficult to reach by peace as well. 

"Azerbaijan cannot allow a separate independent state to exist in the middle of its country, even though it is not a large area, it is 4,500 square kilometers," said Somun.
