Musical staircase in Pruščakova opens on February 1st

The landslide remediation and reconstruction of the staircase in Pruščakova street (Local Community 'Trg oslobođenja-Centar') have been completed with the installation of special audio devices next to the rest benches and the connection of public lighting to the city's power grid. The official opening of the staircase is planned for Monday, February 1st at 5 PM, the Centar Municipality announced, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

– The project we have realized during the past period was one of the most demanding in my career when it comes to landslide remediation. Despite all the problems we encountered during the project implementation, we managed to complete all works within the initially determined sum of 679,000 KM allocated by the Centar Municipality from its budget – said Fuad Babić, landslide coordinator at the KS Construction Institute, which is the implementer and supervisor of this project.

During the project implementation, which began in March 2015, the entire drainage system infrastructure, including the water supply network with connections to surrounding residential buildings, as well as sewage and rainwater drainage, was replaced first. Then, a new reinforced concrete staircase was built, onto which stone slabs and granite cubes were laid. After that, new street lighting poles, handrails, cast-iron benches, and specially designed waste bins were installed.

Considering the ambient setting of the staircase, located in the immediate vicinity of the iconic gathering place 'Sloga' and the Chess Club 'Bosna', the architectural studio 'Firma' envisioned during the preparation of the project documentation that each resting area would be thematically linked to the most famous musicians or bands that marked the golden era of 'Sloga'. Specifically, each bench at a resting area features a short biography of selected musicians with special audio devices through which passers-by can listen to the most famous tracks by Indexi, Bijelo dugme, Merlin, as well as representatives of New Primitivs....

At the resting area near the Chess Club 'Bosna', a table with chess pieces has been placed where passers-by can enjoy this ancient game.
