Museum "Alija Izetbegović" in Kovači packed with tourists since morning

The Alija Izetbegović Museum in Kovači, dedicated to the first president of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been full of guests since morning, both locals and tourists arriving from various parts of the world, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

On this day, August 8, 1925, Izetbegović was born in Bosanski Šamac, one of the most famous and significant political figures in the recent history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this occasion, the Alija Izetbegović Museum has organized the event "Open Doors Days" which lasts today and tomorrow, and the museum is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Šejla Cakić, archivist of the Alija Izetbegović Museum, told NAP that in just two hours after opening, the museum had more than a hundred visitors.

- Tourists are most interested in the personal belongings of the late Izetbegović. We have on display his beret, watch, wallet with a business card from the period when he was a lawyer, and his pocket Quran, which he never parted with - said Cakić for Patria.

- Tourists visit the museum every day. This year, it is much more than last year. And today's visit is truly unexpected for us. However, it all makes us happy. Besides the delegation from the Presidency of BiH, which has been announced, we have a large number of domestic and foreign tourists who came to visit the Museum of the first president of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina - added Cakić.

Alija Izetbegović died on October 19, 2003, in Sarajevo.
