Muslims in BiH Celebrate the Blessed Night of Laylat al-Raghaib Tonight

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to the Calendar of the Islamic Community's Reis-ul-ulema, the first of the blessed nights, Laylat al-Raghaib, or in the tradition of Bosniaks known as the Night of Wishes, begins tonight with the evening prayer.

It is celebrated on the eve of the first Friday in the month of Rajab.

Laylat al-Raghaib is one of the chosen nights, and according to Islamic teachings, it represents the confirmation of God's mercy towards man. Laylat al-Raghaib is also a night of prayers, wishes, and hopes.

"Keeping in mind that prayer to God Almighty has been and remains the bond and bridge connecting the Creator and His creation; let us not miss the opportunity on the night of Laylat al-Raghaib to reach God's mercy, blessings, and abundance. Prayer is especially needed by modern man who, in a fast and dynamic life, often loses orientation and Islamic balance between the spiritual and the material," states the announcement of the Islamic Community of BiH on its official website.

In the Islamic calendar, the nights of Laylat al-Raghaib, Laylat al-Mi'raj, Laylat al-Bara'at, and Laylat al-Qadr are more distinguished than other nights of the year, and accordingly, they are celebrated with intensified worship, voluntary prayers, and recitation of the Quran.

The days and nights of the blessed months of Rajab and Sha'ban are heralds of the coming days of Ramadan.
