Muslims across Bosnia and Herzegovina joyfully welcome Eid al-Fitr: Mosques full of worshippers for Eid prayer

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the presence of a large number of worshippers this morning, the Eid prayer was performed in mosques across Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking the beginning of one of the greatest Muslim holidays, Eid al-Fitr.

The central Eid celebration in BiH was held at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, where the Eid prayer was led by the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, who also delivered the Eid sermon. Kavazović emphasized in his sermon that piety is in the heart.

- It is forbidden for a Muslim to violate a fellow Muslim brother, his property and honor - said Reis Kavazović, stressing that a Muslim brother must not be violated and that in competition in every endeavor, one must be mindful of this.

- For a Muslim, preserving the honor and dignity of others is more important than any worldly goal. Competition, in politics or any business, must not cross these boundaries. Any Muslim who does not adhere to this testament of the Prophet has betrayed the trust of faith, turned his back on God, the Prophet, and the community of Muslims. The time ahead will speak of us, who we are and what we are - Kavazović emphasized.

After the traditional greeting of this holiday with the words "Bajram šerif mubarek olsun", worshippers headed from the mosques to their homes, and then to cemeteries to offer prayers for their deceased. Afterwards, they began visiting their families, relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Worshippers, in their finest attire and with their neighbors, welcomed one of the two greatest Islamic holidays with festive joy.

The central Eid celebration for the area of the Tuzla Muftiship was held at the King Abdulah Mosque in Tuzla, where the Eid prayer was led and the sermon delivered by the Mufti of Tuzla, Vahid ef. Fazlović.
In the area of the Mostar Muftiship, the central celebration was held at the Osman-paša Resulbegović Mosque in Trebinje.
