Musić: Bosnia can advance from the group, Zukanović don't lose hope, your time will come

 

The biggest football showcase begins on June 12, and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team plays its first match against football powerhouse Argentina, reports the Patria news agency (NAP). Former Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player and reliable defender for numerous Italian and Turkish clubs, Vedin Musić, tells NAP that he is optimistic and believes we can achieve a favorable result against Messi and company.

- For us, this is a great success just to have gone to such a big tournament, something we have longed for since the existence of our team. We got the opportunity to play in Brazil, and our first match is against the great Argentina. I am an optimist and I think we will manage to get a favorable result against them, which is a draw, and that would mean a lot to us – says Musić.

He adds that the clash with Argentina could be decisive.

- If we take those three points from Argentina, which they have already counted on, and then possibly look for another win against Iran, I think we will succeed. Because with that one win and a draw, we can advance to the second round, and after that advancement, I think it will be easier and less stressful to play – added Musić.

The former national team player also commented on the case of Ervin Zukanović, who was removed from the national team due to an interview he gave after not receiving a visa for the USA, where Bosnia had a tour.

- If we all put ourselves in his shoes, we would know what he is going through. When you get the chance to play in a big competition and something gets disrupted within 24 hours, it is very sad. However, what is done is done. I would recommend him not to lose hope and to remain a hard worker and a sportsman. I think his time will come – added Musić.

The big problem in this, says Musić, is that Zukanović would have been an ideal replacement for injured players in the back line.

- That is the biggest problem, that we had a lot of issues in the back line, so Zukanović, so to speak, could have come in handy to replace those players. But what is done is done; whatever the selector decides should be respected, and later it will be his responsibility how and why they made those decisions – added Musić, explaining that one must be a professional and respect such decisions by the selector.
