Muriz Memić is being tried for an unannounced gathering from 2018!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A hearing for Muriz Memić is scheduled for tomorrow at the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, following a report by police officers of the Centar Police Administration for an unannounced gathering on October 5, 2018. 

"The Second Police Administration, from the Municipality of Centar, filed a request for the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings because no notification was submitted for holding a peaceful gathering on October 5, 2018. The request is signed by Vahid Bakija, who was the commander of the traffic unit when the murder of Dženan Memić was covered up. On the same day, October 5, 2018, we filed criminal charges against the same police officers who submitted the request for the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings. We are prepared to bear responsibility for the unannounced peaceful gathering, to respect the court's decision, but we also demand that the law be equal for everyone, and that the murderers of our Dženan finally be brought to justice. That is what we are fighting for, and we will not give up," wrote Arijana Memić, the sister of the murdered Dženan Memić.

The Memić family has been waiting for justice and searching for the truth about Dženan Memić's death for four and a half years. Not even two court proceedings have revealed how the young man sustained his injuries on the night of February 8, 2016, in Velika aleja, while he was in the company of Alisa Mutap. Although a key witness, Mutap only appeared once at the trial of Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, who were acquitted twice by the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo of charges of causing a traffic accident and obstructing justice. The court concluded that there was no evidence that a traffic accident had occurred that night, nor that Dženan Memić's injuries corresponded to those typical of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.   

It was precisely based on the report from October 5, 2018, which Memić filed with the BiH Prosecutor's Office against more than 40 individuals, including a large number of responsible police officers at the time, that an investigation for organized crime was opened. The investigation includes several individuals who were involved in the Dženan Memić case.
