Muriz Memić at the Seferović Trial: Prosecutors Know This Is a Farce, You Have a Living Witness from That Night!

At the Sarajevo Cantonal Court, the trial of Ljubo Seferović and his father Bekrija continued for the serious criminal offense against the safety of public traffic and for the criminal offense of failing to assist a person injured in a traffic accident and the criminal offense of obstructing evidence, in the case of the death of Dženan Memić, reports the Patria agency.

Today, the father of Dženan Memić, Muriz Memić, testified as the injured party. When asked by prosecutor Sead Kreštalica whether he joins the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in the criminal prosecution of the accused and whether he files a property claim, he stated that he will not file any claim and called the trial a farce, adding that the prosecutors themselves know this is a farce.

Prosecutor Kreštalica repeatedly began his questions addressed to Memić with: „Since you said you are dissatisfied with the work of the Prosecutor's Office and the police...“ and asked him to present his knowledge of the events of February 8, 2016, when his son was killed.

- The injuries on Dženan do not indicate they are from a traffic accident. The van in the footage is not damaged. You have a living witness, let Alisa Mutap speak - said Memić.

The injured party stated that he examined his son in the hospital and saw one injury on his head, on both knees, and on each finger. He also said that he met a doctor and asked him whether this injury was from a traffic accident, to which the doctor replied that it was from a blunt object but would not specify what kind.

Memić said that the discharge letter does not mention any injuries, while prosecutor Kreštalica stated that there were also chest injuries. Memić requested that Nermin Šehović be called as a witness, who was part of the Ad hoc body of the Cantonal Assembly that identified a series of failures. Memić had warned the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office about these same failures but says they did not even hear him.

When asked whether any members of the Seferović family had come to them, Memić said they had not. The same question referred to the family of Zijad Mutap.

- The family came on the third day after the event. I was in shock. Her mother said that they were not hit by a car. I spoke with Zijo until Dženan died. He said, „my family has nothing to do with this, do you need money?“ I just said give me a name and we never spoke again - said Memić.

When asked by the prosecutor whether Dženan had a pistol, Muriz said he did not know his son carried a weapon. He said he has a pistol that Dženan used to carry when they went hiking, but the one Dženan had was not his, nor would he allow him to carry a weapon. He added that Dženan told his friends that Alisa had threats from her ex-boyfriend Mirza Ploskić.

When asked about the green Renault Clio mentioned in the entire case, Memić said it was „planted like the van.“

The defense attorney for the accused, Rusmir Karkin, also examined Memić and asked him whether he conducted his own investigation and sought details.

- I received footage from the Kuwaiti Embassy from that night and sent it for expert analysis in Canada. Someone left it in my house; 5,000 people passed through the house. It shows the van moving at high speed with both lights working and the letter A in the middle of the license plate - said Memić, and during his testimony, he also stated that on that night in Aleja, there was also a vehicle belonging to Vehbija Seferović, which is owned by Zijo Mutap.

Memić also said that Dženan's phone was with Zijo Mutap and that he handed it over to a police officer in front of the hospital.

- In one message Dženan sent to Alisa, it said: Don't meet with them, and she replied: Oh Dženane. Those messages were later gone. On February 8, Dženan had 100 calls from Alisa.

The injured party also stated that the story about Dženan carrying a pistol originated from Alisa, and that after the event, she called Dženan's sister Arijana at five in the morning and asked: What was Dženan mumbling?

Muriz Memić said he went to Alija Budnjo and spoke with him, asking for help. They met in front of the Oaza restaurant in Ilidža, and Budnjo recounted his conversation with Dr. Hamza Žujo, who performed the autopsy on Dženan Memić's body.

- I sat with the doctor, and Dženan had a wound with a diameter from a metal rod fi 18 mm wide on one prong that pierced the skull - said Memić.

Answering questions from attorney Karkin, Memić said that prosecutor Meris Ćato avoided meeting him, but that Chief Prosecutor Dalida Burzić called him and apologized for prosecutor Ćato's behavior. When he met with prosecutor Ćato on March 4, according to Memić, he acted as if Memić were the accused and asked him why he had given statements to the media.

Memić reiterated that prosecutor Burzić spoke to him and his attorney Ifet Feraget about the circumstances of Dženan's murder, and on May 6, he received a letter from Burzić stating that Dženan was killed.
