MHP of WCH on the incident in Ljubuški: We are checking allegations of firearm use

(Patria) - After the incident that occurred today in Ljubuški, the police of the West Herzegovina Canton issued a statement. 

"Today at 3:40 PM, the Ljubuški Police Station received a report that near the Babovac football stadium in Ljubuški, on the streets of don Ivan Musić and Ante Paradžik, a large-scale public order disturbance occurred, in the form of a brawl involving a large number of persons. Immediately upon receiving the report, all available police officers were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arriving at the scene, it was determined that a football match between NK Ljubuški and FK Sarajevo was taking place at the stadium, which had not been announced to the Ljubuški Police Station, and at the scene, police officers encountered a large number of unknown persons who were getting into personal vehicles and leaving in an unknown direction.

Police officers detained four male persons, who were identified – it was determined that they are K. K. (1990), S. B. (1983), K. K. (1980), all from Sarajevo, and M. D. (1975) from Gračanica. These persons were brought to the official premises of the Ljubuški Police Station where they were breathalyzed; the breathalyzer test determined that they were under the influence of alcohol.

It was also determined that an unknown person or persons, in an undetermined manner, damaged the entrance door and windows of a family house located near the Babovac stadium.

Police officers are taking necessary measures and actions to identify and locate other participants in the described incident and to document the committed offenses.

Additionally, police officers are checking allegations that an unknown person fired a firearm into the air," the police stated. 

A group of FK Sarajevo fans who were in Ljubuški claim that they saw persons destroying their private cars, and that someone used a firearm.
