RS MoI cannot guarantee the safety of citizens wishing to celebrate BiH Statehood Day in Banja Luka, SDP rally banned

(Patria) - The Banja Luka Police Administration of the RS MoI has issued a decision banning a public gathering organized by the City Organization of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, scheduled for November 25 in Banja Luka.

The ceremonial academy was supposed to be held at the Mariot Hotel starting at 12 PM, but after public threats and the gathering of a group of citizens who oppose the celebration of BiH Statehood Day, the police succumbed to pressure and banned the rally. This means that the RS MoI cannot guarantee the safety of the approximately 90 participants who were expected to attend the rally, nor can it prevent a group of citizens from inciting unrest, as they announced a counter-rally.

As stated in the decision, the RS MoI assessed that there is a real possibility that people and property could be seriously endangered at this public gathering, and that there is a serious risk of violence or a large-scale disturbance of public order and peace.

The police also banned a gathering in Mrkonjić Grad, where anti-fascists gather every year to commemorate the anniversary of the First Session of ZAVNOBiH on November 25, 1943.
