(Patria) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska today, at the continuation of yesterday's regular session, adopted a declaration expressing opposition to any plan for establishing centers for the reception of migrants on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and particularly on the territory of the entity Republika Srpska. This declaration was proposed by the President of RS, Milorad Dodik.
The adopted document emphasized that the entity parliament strongly opposes the idea of accommodating migrants from third countries – including those who might be deported from Great Britain or European Union member states – on the territory of BiH. The declaration specifically highlights that such plans, as stated, can have long-term consequences for the demographic structure of Republika Srpska.
The Assembly also tasked the Government of RS to undertake all necessary measures, both institutional and on the ground, with the aim of preventing the potential formation of migrant camps anywhere within the entity.
The document also appeals to all representatives of Serb ethnicity holding positions in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to publicly reject any form of participation in potential international agreements on the relocation of migrants. It was also requested that the citizens of RS be informed about the content of any communications that have been held with the governments of Great Britain and EU member states on this issue.
The National Assembly also adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, which introduces an auxiliary police force.
Out of 45 national deputies present, 44 voted in favor, while one voted against.
