(Patria) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton – Police Administration has announced a competition to fill vacant positions for police officers in the initial rank of "POLICE OFFICER", for 220 positions.
The competition will be open for 30 days and is available at www.mup.ks.gov.ba. Candidates who wish to apply cannot be older than 27 years of age, must have completed a four-year secondary school education, be physically and mentally fit for police duties, and must not have any security impediments in accordance with the established secrecy level for this position.
This competition follows closely after the employment of 238 police officers in the middle of this month, who applied in December 2023. At the same time, the selection process for another 158 candidates (according to the competition from November 2024) is nearing completion, and they will be sent for training at the Police Academy by the end of this year.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Admir Katica, a total of 461 new police officers have been employed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton – Police Administration from 2023 to date.
"I believe that the introduction of a modern and transparent recruitment procedure into the police force is our greatest success because now we can rightly say that only the best personnel are entering the police force," said Minister Katica.
"The police officers we have hired have joined the police ranks because they were the best, most capable, and spared no effort to achieve their goal. I invite young people, ready for this to be their life's calling, to apply for the competition for the honorable profession of a police officer. Our expectations from them are that they be motivated, professional, responsible, but also brave and persistent enough, and most importantly, principled in enforcing the law," added the minister.
The functional operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton is of vital importance for Sarajevo Canton, and one of the most important prerequisites is adequate staffing of this security agency. Therefore, the Government of Sarajevo Canton, at the proposal of Minister Admir Katica, adopted a Decision in June this year giving consent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS to conduct a public competition to fill vacant positions and employ police officers in the rank of "police officer" for 220 positions.
Candidates who meet the requirements of the public competition will take general knowledge exams based on questions published at the beginning of the calendar year on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS. This will be followed by physical fitness tests, medical examinations, and security checks. Candidates who meet all the above will be sent for training at the Police Academy.
Intensive recruitment of new police personnel aims to compensate for the retirement of a significant number of police officers, with the ultimate goal of employing up to 1,000 new police officers by the end of 2026.
