MUP KS gains 28 new junior inspectors

(Patria) - A diploma awarding ceremony for the XXVIII generation of cadets to the rank of "junior inspector" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Sarajevo Canton (KS) was held today at the Police Academy of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This has created the conditions for these 28 young men and women to sign employment contracts with the Police Administration of the MUP of KS and to take up their work duties and responsibilities starting next month.

These police officers, with diplomas of higher education in law or criminology, criminology, or security studies, have successfully passed general knowledge tests, physical fitness tests, medical examinations, undergone security checks, and have now successfully completed their training at the Police Academy.



According to Minister Admir Katica, they are an example of the police officers that the MUP of KS strives for.

- From the beginning, we have advocated for a transparent and open process of recruiting police officers in which only the best, most professional, and most prepared will pass, because we need a strong, professional, and capable police force in Sarajevo Canton.

Our greatest success is that we have brought professionalism back into the police force and that today we are witnessing a generation of criminalists, criminologists, lawyers, and security experts joining our ranks.

I congratulate these persistent and diligent young women and men, I wish them a warm welcome to the Police Administration of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton, and may they perform their duties with honor and pride and protect the citizens of Sarajevo Canton - said Katica.

He added that in two months, another 241 police officers will join the ranks.

- We currently have 241 participants in basic training for the rank of "police officer" at the Police Academy, who will complete their training at the end of June.



They will very soon join us in the police ranks and ensure the safety of citizens, and at the same time, we are conducting a competition and testing another 200 candidates, whom I believe we will send for training by the end of this year - confirmed the minister.

This confirms the commitment of the MUP of KS, the Police Administration, as well as the Government of KS to accelerate the recruitment of new police officers with the aim of renewing the staff and recruiting the missing police officers due to regular retirements.

The Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramo Isak, emphasized in his address that this is one of the best classes that can respond to all tasks and challenges.

- This is a class that has been trained in the most modern way, new subjects have been introduced, and we have the support of all international institutions and police academies that consider this one of the better programs applied in police academies. So, we can say that Sarajevo will get quality, honorable, and honest junior inspectors - said Isak.



The public competition for the recruitment of police officers in the initial rank of "junior inspector" was announced in August 2023, and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, aged up to 35, with a diploma of higher education VII degree or a diploma from the first cycle of the Bologna process of studies, valued at 240 ECTS credit points in law or criminology, criminology, or security studies (undergraduate study) from an accredited higher education institution, could apply.

After the competition procedure was completed, in December last year, a contract on mutual rights and obligations between the Police Administration of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton and 28 participants of the basic training for the rank of "junior inspector" was signed, after which their training began at the Police Academy of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The basic training for junior inspectors lasted four months, and after employment, their probationary period lasts a total of 12 months.
