KS Ministry of Internal Affairs Appeals: Respect the Movement Ban, Fines Up to 1,500 KM

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Given that the Federal Civil Protection Staff has issued an Order prohibiting movement for persons under 18 and over 65 years of age, on this occasion, taking into account the fact that cantonal ministries of internal affairs are responsible for its implementation, we appeal to the citizens of Sarajevo Canton to strictly adhere to the said order.

We particularly emphasize that police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Administration will patrol the area (streets, parks, playgrounds, and other public spaces) to monitor compliance with the ordered measures, the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

"In case individuals are observed not complying with the ordered measures, they may be sanctioned by police officers by issuing a misdemeanor order, imposing a fine of 500 to 1,500 KM for failing to comply with orders or decisions of competent authorities that restrict or prohibit access, movement, or presence in a certain place. In the case of children, i.e., minors, parents or guardians may be held responsible for the offense, and they may be fined from 400 to 1,200 KM," the statement from the Sarajevo Ministry of Internal Affairs reads.

In addition to parents or guardians, they add, if it concerns minors aged 14 to 16, or 16 to 18, given that they are liable for misdemeanors, measures may also be taken against them in accordance with the Misdemeanor Law, and misdemeanor proceedings may be initiated by filing a request for the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings with the competent court.

"Due to all of the above, we draw the attention of parents or guardians to influence children, i.e., minors, and prevent violations of the movement ban order for the mentioned categories, just as we appeal to those over 65 to refrain from any kind of movement outside their living space. Let's show maximum responsibility regarding the situation we are in and respect the orders and instructions of the competent authorities and institutions, as well as the police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Administration," is the message from the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs.
