(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs continues its activities on the construction of the new modern headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton in Kolodvorska Street.
At the end of this week, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs launched a public procurement procedure to select a contractor who will proceed with the demolition and removal of the existing building in Kolodvorska Street, on the site where the new building is planned.
“In accordance with the planned timeline, we have initiated the procedure for selecting a contractor for the removal of the existing construction in Kolodvorska Street. Once we complete the procedure and select the contractor, they will have 45 days to demolish and completely remove the old building from the site. This is a prerequisite for us to begin the construction of the new building, which we plan for next year. We are simultaneously resolving administrative issues,” confirmed Minister Admir Katica.
The estimated value of the demolition is 769,230 KM, and the funds for the execution of the works have been secured in the budget of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs.
We remind you that at the location in Kolodvorska Street – near the former Energoinvest building – there is an unfinished structure whose construction began in the late seventies of the last century, intended to house the administrative building of 'Vodovod i kanalizacija' (Water and Sewerage). Nothing has been done on the site for decades, nor has the commenced construction been completed. On the other hand, the location is ideal for the construction of the central administrative building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, due to the nature of the work to be performed there, as well as the surface area required for construction.
At the end of 2023, the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk and the Director of KJKP „Vodovod i kanalizacija“ Rusmir Salić signed an Agreement on the transfer of ownership rights with consideration regarding the premises in Kolodvorska Street, where the new building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be constructed. This step brought the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs closer to achieving its long-term goal, which is the construction of a new building and administrative headquarters. However, the signing of the agreement itself was preceded by a series of key steps and activities that had to be undertaken to launch the project of constructing the new building of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs, for the first time since 1997.
In 2023, the conceptual design for the demolition of the existing structure at this location was completed, and demolition is planned for 2024. The plan of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs and Minister Admir Katica is to complete the conceptual and detailed design of the new building in 2024, secure administrative permits, and carry out the removal of the existing structure from the site.
