HNK Ministry of Interior claims they ran out of car stickers, IDDEEA says they have 5,683 left

Drivers from the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton cannot extend their vehicle registrations because the Ministry of Interior of this canton has run out of stickers that are affixed to car windshields as a sign that the vehicle is registered.

One of the drivers from Mostar told the BiH news agency Patria that he has been driving without a registration certificate for several days because the HNK Ministry of Interior cannot issue it without stickers, which they currently do not have.

- I have paid about 530 KM for registration properly, but for several days I have not been able to get a registration certificate because the police do not have stickers – said the driver.

One of the insurance companies in Mostar also confirmed that there has been a shortage of car stickers in HNK.

The Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDDEEA) claims that they are not aware of the problem faced by drivers in HNK. According to their records, the HNK Ministry of Interior currently has 5,683 internal stickers.

- Based on the records of received and used quantities of internal stickers at locations as of November 16, 2015, unused internal sticker stocks were determined at the locations of the competent authorities for vehicle registration (Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, cantonal Ministries of Interior, and the Public Registry of Brčko District).

According to those records, the HNK Ministry of Interior currently has 5,683 internal stickers – IDDEEA told Patria .

- Also, based on this data and the available stocks held by IDDEEA, the remaining quantities of internal stickers have been distributed to the locations of the competent authorities, which will be delivered in the coming period in accordance with needs. In this distribution, the HNK Ministry of Interior will receive an additional 4,800 internal stickers.

IDDEEA previously warned the Council of Ministers that a shortage of car stickers could occur. The Council subsequently tasked the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH with preparing and submitting to the Council of Ministers of BiH a proposal for amendments to the law that would allow for the issuance of certificates replacing sticker labels during vehicle registration until the sticker procurement process is completed. However, this law has not yet been amended.

ALLOWED REDISTRIBUTION OF STICKERS

IDDEEA states that they have suggested to the Ministries of Interior to keep records of the number of unused stickers at their competent locations. If a vehicle registration location has more internal stickers than its actual needs, the competent authority is allowed to transfer sticker packages to another vehicle registration location. They were advised to distribute the sticker packages that IDDEEA will deliver to the competent authorities to vehicle registration locations in accordance with actual needs.
