HNK Interior Ministry: New Year's Eve passed without serious public order disturbances

New Year's Eve in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton passed mostly peacefully, with only a small number of recorded incidents and no serious disturbances of public order and peace.

Based on the Security Plan, the locally competent Mostar Police Administration ensured the public New Year's Eve celebration event from December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026.

More than a hundred police officers from all organizational units of the HNK Ministry of Interior Police Administration participated in the implementation of security measures.

As announced by the HNK Ministry of Interior, intensified police activities were carried out with the aim of preserving a favorable security situation, preventing and detecting criminal offenses, suppressing disturbances of public order and peace, and monitoring and sanctioning traffic violations.

During New Year's Eve in the Mostar Police Administration area, two criminal offenses and four public order and peace violations were recorded, with two individuals being apprehended. Also, four traffic accidents were registered.

Among other incidents in the area of responsibility of the Mostar Police Administration, a report was received that two individuals were physically assaulted by an unknown male person on Španski trg (Spanish Square), using a telescopic baton.

During the incident, one person sustained injuries and was sent to a healthcare facility for medical assistance and determination of the extent of the injuries.

Police officers are undertaking further measures and actions to clarify the mentioned event.

In the Čapljina Police Administration area, one criminal offense and three traffic accidents were recorded, while in the Konjic Police Administration area, one criminal offense and two traffic accidents were recorded.

During New Year's Eve, police officers on the ground were visited by the Police Administration Commissioner Robert Perić and his deputy Samir Mirvić, along with associates.

During the visit, full support was expressed to the police officers engaged in security duties, as well as satisfaction with the level of professionalism, responsibility, and coordination in their actions. It was particularly emphasized that timely planning, adequate deployment of personnel and technical resources, and constant police presence on the ground significantly contributed to maintaining a favorable security situation, protecting citizens and their property, and a peaceful and dignified New Year's Eve celebration.

As stated in the announcement, the HNK Ministry of Interior Police Administration will continue to implement planned, preventive, and repressive activities in the coming period with the aim of improving general security and calls on citizens to behave responsibly, respect legal regulations, and cooperate with police officers, in order to continue maintaining a safe environment for all citizens and visitors.
