(Patria) - President of the Association 'Mothers of Srebrenica' Munira Subašić and Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center Emir Suljagić have traveled to New York where they will address the UN on April 29 on the occasion of the consideration of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly. The host of this visit will be the Ambassador and Head of the BiH Mission to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija.
Although the consideration and voting on the Resolution has been postponed from May 2 to a later date in May, this will be an opportunity for Subašić and Suljagić to present before the UN why the resolution is necessary and why July 11 should be the International Day of the Genocide in Srebrenica.
"We have come to the UN to convey that the victims of genocide must not be forgotten and to warn the world not to allow a new crime like the one in Srebrenica in 1995," states a post on the Mothers of Srebrenica profile on X.
Along with this, a supporting document announcing the address on April 29 was published, whose authenticity has been confirmed to Patria.
Several countries have accepted co-sponsorship of the Resolution while Serbia is attempting to prevent the Resolution from being adopted and to have as few countries as possible vote for it.
