Muhasilović: The Troika was ready to trample Bosniaks just to stay in power

(Patria) - Professor of International Relations and Geopolitics at the International University of Sarajevo, Jahja Muhasilović, was a guest on Hayat Television's show '7plus' Hayat Television tonight, where he spoke about Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path and other current political topics.

- Everyone loses in the long run. If we were to enter the EU in this state, we would have to dramatically change our Constitution. Dayton was more of a ceasefire and by force of circumstances it has remained until today.

If we were to overcome all the barriers to joining the EU, it is questionable how good it would be to join the EU. The examples of more developed countries have inevitably reflected on the demographic aspect.

In this state, we are not suitable for the EU. The EU is a long way off for us, and it is questionable whether the EU will survive by the time we fulfill all the conditions. There will be no progress on that path as long as the Troika is in power - says Muhasilović.

He states that HDZ BiH is the ruler on the political scene because the international community has given them that role.

- Without HDZ's approval, there is no removal of Nešić, nor of SNSD. HDZ is the one who decides who will be in power and who will not, because the international community has given them that role.

HDZ sees its security in SNSD, so it is not worth their while to gamble. Even if Konaković and Nešić were removed, the Council of Ministers could function. These two ministries are the most crucial for any state, but it is difficult for something like that to happen - says Muhasilović.

The political project of SNSD and HDZ, he reminds, will keep the Troika in power as long as they need them for the goals of their project. It is only a matter of time when the Troika will disappear from power.

- The strongest coalition is the secessionist one, that of HDZ and SNSD. They ignore some crises just to survive. They will exist as long as the Troika suits them for their political project.

The Troika was brought in to satisfy the goals of HDZ and SNSD. It is only a matter of time when it will disappear from power - believes Muhasilović.

He also says that the Troika is aware of its unpopularity and that next year, when the General Elections are held in BiH, they will not be able to come out with the narrative they are currently using.

- If the Troika's goal was the EU, they would not have cemented HDZ in power, nor would Dodik and Čović be the rulers of BiH. They are aware of their unpopularity and that they cannot come out with that narrative next year.

They depend on HDZ and SNSD, as well as the West - said Muhasilović, adding that they were ready to trample the Bosniak people just to stay in power.
