Muhasilović: Dodik is not capable of secession from BiH today

(Patria) - The government of the smaller BiH entity today appointed a working group of eight members tasked with drafting a proposal for the peaceful secession agreement between RS and FBiH.

Professor of international relations and geopolitics at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) Jahja Muhasilović says that not much should be expected from this commission.

- They in RS constantly form these kinds of commissions, let's remember they did that in the past as well. Of course, I don't want to diminish the danger in that regard, but not much should be expected from this one either - Muhasilović said during his guest appearance on the show BHT1 Uživo.

He emphasizes that the question that will inevitably be posed to the leader of RS and SNSD, Milorad Dodik, and ultimately he himself asks it every day - is he really allowed to do something like that?

- I think Dodik and the policy he is currently pursuing are not capable of secession from Bosnia and Herzegovina, because he himself once said that the current geopolitical climate in the world is not favorable for it.

Dodik will do everything while waiting for that favorable geopolitical climate, and it can eventually happen partially if Russia achieves its military goals in Ukraine, if it manages to expand its front possibly to Moldova and Georgia, if, for example, Donald Trump wins in the US, and if these right-wing movements in Europe continue to grow.

That would bring closer the geopolitical climate that Milorad Dodik is waiting for, and at that moment it would be very likely, or possible, that he will do something like that - states Muhasilović, Patria reports.

He also says that nothing is excluded in international relations, and that we cannot guarantee that what Dodik really intends to do will not get a green light on the international stage in 5-10 years.

- That is why Bosnia and Herzegovina must do everything on its part to prevent Milorad Dodik and such policies - Muhasilović concluded.
