Mufti Kudić: Numerous religious facilities are under water in Prijedor and Sanski Most

(Patria) - The floods that hit several towns in the Bosanska Krajina region have caused significant material damage to waqf properties: mosques, imam houses, and cemeteries.

According to available information from the field, Prijedor and Sanski Most are the hardest hit.

The Bihać Mufti, hafiz Mehmed-ef. Kudić, has been in constant contact with the leadership of the majlises affected by the floods since the morning hours.

"Given that I was on a Ramadan visit to Kozarac yesterday, it could be anticipated that the situation in Prijedor would escalate considerably. Since this morning, my associates and I have been in contact with the leadership of our majlises. The most important thing is that there are no human casualties, and material values can be compensated," stated Mufti Kudić.

Unfortunately, as he added, these floods have also affected several mosques, imam houses, cemeteries, and other facilities of the Islamic Community.

"Certainly, a large number of settlements and homes of our congregation members are under water. I appeal to the competent institutions to organize all available machinery and personnel to monitor the situation and intervene on time, in order to avoid human casualties and minimize damage to citizens' property. We will continue to monitor the situation and, in accordance with our capabilities as the Islamic Community, take what we can to mitigate the consequences of the floods for people and property. I pray to the Lord to save us from trials we cannot bear and grant us safety and protection on this blessed day, the last day of the month of Ramadan," Mufti Kudić urged.

BHMETEO reports that about 350 homes have been flooded in Prijedor and that the situation today, March 29, is very difficult. The good news is that the bulk of the precipitation has passed and normalization of the situation is expected by the end of this week.
